Truth. However, limited as we are to this format, brevity is the soul of something or another, and that kind of precludes making the finer points.
As for my major... I am interested in learning how social groups form and divide, and the role that 'memes' play in society. However, I may have to settle for something more 'practical'... a major that will pay off. Perhaps something like engineering, chemistry, and computers, or science, or SOMETHING that will give me a chance to hitch a ride on this whole nanotech thing.
Phoo on the societal groups -- cash in on them mad math skillz! If you can do both, that's cool, but you're talking about Ph.D. sort of work which takes a long dang time and usually doesn't pay all that well anyway. My advice (take this with whatever size grain of salt you feel appropriate) is to get an engineering degree, party on it for a few years, then go to grad school for whatever specialty you want.
I will make enough money through SSI to move out, and my parents can still help me out under the table.
That works. Roommates can be a complete pain in the ass, or they can be a Godsend. Make sure you know who you'll be living with. And I mean really know them.
Don't worry, I can make it. And if I can't it will be an important lesson learned. There's no shame in making mistakes. But there is shame in not even trying in the first place, or in not learning from the mistakes you make.
Not worried. Hey, this is the Bastard Culture, and we could all just give a crap, right? But seriously, you're right. Do please learn from your mistakes though, otherwise we will be forced to hunt you down and kill you.

Yeah, you will, pretty much. It can be done otherwise, but it's not easy nor pleasant.
